Chris Murray

Lead of Data Transformation , Deutsche Bank

Chris Murray is currently the Lead of Data Transformation within the Investment Banking division of Deutsche Bank. The core element of the role is reimagining how data is governed, managed, and distributed across a highly regulated organization using the latest technologies and practices. Chris’ role interacts with and impacts thousands of technologists across the firm and influences what is done and how it is done. Chris has been instrumental in leading an initiative from a technology perspective to close a Regulatory Finding which has been open for seven years.

Chris is a trusted member of the leadership team sitting on multiple Commitees and Councils, providing advisory and guidance to colleagues across the globe and works closely with the CEO on a range of  initiatives.

Chris leads from the front, with a willingness to roll up his sleeves and get involved in the detail, and ensuring that his team and the wider organization observe that he not only creates the vision but is massively involved in delivering it.

Beyond his day job, Chris champions Technology and other Professional Career pathways within underrepresented communities. He has created work experience programmes, and apprenticeships within Technology for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

Chris’ vision is to change the industry for the better, such that Banking and Technology look fundamentally different to how they were when he started his career. Chris has created key JVs with vendors promoting sustainable employee augmentation to shape the way that the technology industry finds new talent. Chris also provides strategic advice to a number of Social Mobility organisations and is a Board Member for a Social Mobility Charity.

He also works with technology companies to enhance products that are being brought to market so they are better aligned to the Financial Services use case.

Chris is the Co-Chair of dbENRICH, Deutsche Bank’s multi-cultural ERG, and works to celebrate the diverse range of employees in the organisation and the positive impact they have and founded the Black Leadership Forum in 2020.

During his spare time Chris provides mentorship, both internally and externally to Technologists looking to accelerate their career. To date he mentored 100 individuals globally, he sits on a number of promotion panels, and is a promotion coach.

Chris fundamentally believes that no problem is too big to resolve, and that no person is not important enough to help. Whilst we do not live to work, let’s have fun whilst we are working!
