David Edem
David Edem is a senior enterprise digital, data and AI transformation leader with over 20 years' experience delivering large-scale change across energy, engineering and industrial software organisations. He works independently as a consultant and advisor, bringing CEO and board-level experience of reshaping how digital, data and AI capabilities drive growth, resilience and customer value as part of wider business transformation programmes in highly regulated, global environments.
David’s career has been defined by building strong digital and data foundations and then applying advanced analytics and AI to solve complex, real-world problems at scale. At AVEVA, he led a CEO-sponsored Enterprise Data & AI Strategy, establishing a unified, governed enterprise data foundation and accelerating the responsible adoption of AI, LLMs and intelligent agents across the organisation. This work enabled better decision-making, improved productivity and supported the company’s continued evolution as a cloud-first, SaaS-led business.
Previously, as Vice President of Cloud Transformation, David helped lead AVEVA’s shift from on premise software to cloud and SaaS, fundamentally changing operating models, go-to-market approaches and customer engagement. He introduced FinOps, data-residency compliance and customer and product intelligence capabilities that improved adoption, retention and commercial performance while maintaining trust with regulated customers.
Before AVEVA, David was Digital & Information Management Director at Harbour Energy, joining pre-M&A and building the digital, data and analytics capability that supported the company’s growth into the UK’s largest independent energy producer. He led the AI-driven structuring and cleansing of more than 40 years of subsurface, wells and engineering data, creating a trusted operational foundation within 12 months and enabling safer operations, better asset decisions and successful integration of major acquisitions.
Earlier in his career, David pioneered the use of geospatial analytics, remote sensing and autonomous UAVs across Africa, introducing innovative and sustainable digital capability in Uganda, Kenya and Ghana. He has also served on industry advisory committees, including Offshore Energies UK and the North Sea Transition Authority, helping shape sector-wide digital and data standards.
With an MSc in Geographic Information Science from UCL and an Executive MBA from Imperial College Business School, David brings rare depth across data, analytics and executive decision making. He is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of technologists, championing data and AI literacy, and ensuring innovation delivers meaningful business and societal impact.
