Joelle Owusu-Sekyere
Joelle Owusu-Sekyere is Editorial Director at #Merky Books, Penguin Random House, where she acquires fiction and non-fiction. She was recently recognised as a finalist for the Black British Business Awards Arts & Media Rising Star Category, showcasing the impact of her work.
Formerly Editorial Director at Dialogue Books and Commissioning Editor at Hodder & Stoughton, her acquisitions include Nero Prize-shortlisted The Tidal Year and Sunday Times bestsellers Glittering a Turd and Finding Me by Viola Davis.
After a BSc in Petroleum Geology, she pivoted to publishing. Joelle regularly speaks at festivals including Cheltenham and Edinburgh, and has contributed to BBC Radio 5 Live since 2019. She also mentors aspiring publishers and champions underrepresented voices across the literary landscape.
