Nystrom is a transformative technology leader recognized for driving large-scale modernization and championing diversity in the tech sector. Nystrom leads, designs, and executes the modernization of multiple mission-critical applications for Post Trade Securities Lending banking activities. This year included the completion of a multi-year Agile project migrating user interfaces for Global SFT Operations Teams without interruptions in business activity. His strategy for software consolidation, decommissioning and modernization of a platform of microservice applications has delivered measurable improvements in operational efficiency and risk reduction.
A passionate advocate for best practices, Nystrom focuses on making small effort changes with large impact, enforces robust compliance standards through SDLC gating and Security Scanning adoption, enables developer productivity through knowledge sharing sessions, drives platform stability by advising on Site Reliability Engineering activities, implements platform wide DevOps practices, and participates in platform/software architecture forums that guide the evolution of platform integrations. These initiatives have empowered developers to make the right decisions in software design and delivery and as such Nystrom has been recognized for his contributions by gaining the Principal Software Engineer designation in 2025.
Externally and internally, Nystrom is a visible champion for diversity and inclusion. Internally in 2025 he mentored several employees of various diverse backgrounds in navigating the early stages of their Software Engineering career. Nystrom’s commitment to cultural exchange is evident in their contributions to the Black Employee Network (BEN) events in Glasgow, fostering awareness and inclusion within the office for all employees. Externally, Nystrom has been recognized with a nomination for the BTA Software Developer of the year 2024, presented the Sir Goeff Palmer Award for Student of the Year at The Black Scottish Awards (TBSA 2024) and participates in DEI marketing booths of various conferences such as the IamBlack 2025 conference. Additionally, he has partnered with organizations to ensure that he contributes to shaping a more equitable industry for persons of diverse backgrounds and black heritage.
