Tunde Okewale
Dr Tunde Okewale OBE is a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, renowned for his courtroom advocacy, strategic insight, and enduring commitment to justice. He represents senior executives, athletes, creatives, and global organisations in cases involving serious crime, financial crime, civil liberties, and reputational risk.
Raised on a Hackney council estate, his journey from adversity to becoming one of Britain’s most influential legal figures is a story of resilience and purpose. He has overturned wrongful convictions, exposed discriminatory practices, and advised high-profile clients with discretion and precision.
In 2010, he founded Urban Lawyers, a charity that has educated over 50,000 people on legal rights and supported more than 32,000 aspiring lawyers. Honoured with an MBE in 2016 and an OBE in 2024, he now chairs Sport England’s Talent Inclusion Advisory Group, leading national work to widen equity and opportunity in sport.
