Valerie’s career in fintech has centred on innovation in lending, and she now works in Wealth Management at RBC. As the Founder of Black in Fintech, she runs a network dedicated to Black representation, inclusive innovation, and developing financial products to address the needs of marginalised communities.

She has been a Product Advisor for two Black-owned start-ups, a contributor to industry-wide roundtables and events, including Money 20/20, and a representative of the UK on the first fintech trade mission to Africa. She has also been recognised on the Women in Fintech Powerlist for three years running and was an Inspiring Fifty 2025 awardee. She is deeply passionate about the future of finance and harnessing technology to solve real-world problems.
